Hypocricy - Epitome of India - FDI in Retail

The ongoing battle on how we handle FDI in Retail in India shows how our Elected Representatives handle things. Organised Retail with FDI or without FDI is a matter of evolution and something that can not be stopped in India or elsewhere. However what can be achieved is do we accelerate on this aspect or do we take it by its horns and slow down the transformation. We have already allowed FDI in Wholesale Trading and allow for FDI for E-Commerce companies. A walk through most Wholesale trading stores will show a lot of purchases done in the pretext of being sold to trade but a significant portion of it ends up directly to the end consumer which is affecting the end retailer. There is a flurry of online retailers like never before and they have been fueled with a lot of FDI and VCs. The Indian Government and people at large make such a fuss when other countries had protested on how most backoffice work had been outsourced to Indian ITES companies which is affecting millions of jobs in Developed Economies. However when it comes to protecting our own we are ready to Banish International Retailers. We still have traces of the old Dynasty with a lot of apprehensions and misguided facts. Indian government Bans Blogs

Its rather sad that the Indian Government has blocked access to a few websites and many blogs like Typepad. Although the government has apprensions about the current affairs after the recent Mumbai Blasts, its rather strange that they have decided to block every website instead of filtering out the ones they had a problem with.

And I thought the government was taking steps with Freedom of Speech, Right To Information, etc

So much for liberalization.
